So, you are ready for a job in UX… Only problem is… where the hell do you start?!?

There are 3 big hurdles that can hold you back from working towards a UX job:

Problem #1:

I don’t even know where to start…

I watch so many videos and ready so many books but still it feels like a shifting landscape where I don’t know what to do…

How will I know that what I’m doing is going to make a difference in my UX job search?

Problem #2:

But they don’t want someone like me…

What if I do all this work and they just dont want someone like me? Instead they want someone right out of school with a CS degree?

But also what if you don’t even try? That isn’t a good choice either…

Problem #3:

But the tech industry is weird right now…

Frequently, I come across statements like, "My friend mentioned that tech careers are dead" or "My family member expressed their belief that AI will soon replace all 'creative' jobs."

How risky is it to get into tech now?

BUT...

〰️〰️〰️

BUT... 〰️〰️〰️

The reality is that there is a significant amount of misinformation, outdated guidance, and guidance from unqualified people that may send you down the wrong path.

Heyo, Im Erin!

Hey!

I've been in the UX and design field for over 20 years now, and let me tell you, I am head-over-heels in love with everything this career has brought me. Plus, I started teaching UX in 2020, and it's been such a rewarding experience.

Teaching newcomers all the cool things we get to do in UX and how we solve problems is incredibly satisfying. We cover skills, techniques, processes, and end-to-end UX design to help people become successful UX designers.

But here's the thing: the courses I was teaching didn't exactly prepare people for landing that first job. The interviewing, portfolio-building, and networking aspects can all be pretty overwhelming.

That's why I created this workshop.

A little more about me…

As the daughter of civil engineers -  I think it was only natural that I'd end up in a career where I get to ask questions, think deeply, and build things that make sense for the world. But to be fair, I also thought they worked for the railroad for a long time (engineers :D).

As a child, I dreamed of becoming an architect and would spend hours drawing up elaborate building designs. I loved thinking about how people would use the spaces, how it would feel. When I got my hands on a computer, I quickly learned how to use software to create digital drawings and bring these ideas to life.

I was always into art and design, and by the time I was a teenager, I'd taught myself how to use a bunch of Adobe products. I ended up working in art and design for several years, and eventually, I landed a job as a web designer. From there, I got into designing and developing.

Even before UX became the buzzword, I was all about user-centric thinking when it came to design. When UX started to take off, I was like, "Hey, I'm already doing that!"

Since then, I've worked as a freelancer, at various agencies, and at some bigger companies that you might have heard of. I love nothing more than solving problems through great UX design, and

I'm excited to share everything I've learned along the way with all of you.
