Case study selection

Sep 15, 2026 Workshop

In this hands-on workshop, you will be learning how AI is used in the product process today, why everyone is getting it wrong, and how you can fix your team’s process. While you will be learning a variety of skills and concepts during this workshop, you will also be building your own case study and examining how you can better utilize AI driven tools to build products that can actually be successfully shipped.

We recommend working in teams of 2-3, however please feel free to work with as many or few people as you would like. To get started, please choose from one of the 3 case studies listed below to work on.

Option 1: Trip Planning App

Getting a trip out of the group chat is near impossible these days. Everyone throws out half-baked ideas, someone starts a spreadsheet that nobody really looks at, and people fade out of the conversation until somebody actually makes them pay for their flight. With no one in charge and nobody holding anyone accountable, how are you ever supposed to go on that trip abroad? Your challenge is to create a group trip planning app that gets the trip out of the group chat.

Option 2: Networking Event App

Have you ever left a conference thinking “I really wish I got that person’s information.” Their work was interesting, it relates to what you’re building, and you were considering reaching out to them for a collaboration in the future.

Networking is hard — there’s no doubt about it. So when the right opportunity comes up, you want to be able to share information and connect as easily as possible. Your challenge is to create a networking event app that allows attendees to seamlessly connect with others through NFC integrated badges.

Option 3: Personal Carbon Footprint Tracker

Many carbon footprinting tools can feel overwhelming—or even leave users feeling guilty about their impact. They log a few meals, trips, or purchases, get hit with a big, alarming number, and quietly close the app. Your challenge is to design a carbon tracking app that feels encouraging and motivating for the user to continuously use.
